Some Like It Hot: A Fun-Filled Engagement Session at Stevens–Coolidge House with Adrian & Karen

Your photos should feel like you. As a photographer, it's my job to get you there. For Adrian and Karen, what shone through after three years together was their silliness.

That became the thread we followed throughout their session at Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover. Their relationship has that easy, comfortable kind of humor where making each other laugh seems to happen without thinking, so instead of trying to make them fit into a traditional engagement session, we leaned into what was already there.

As we walked around the property, we talked about their relationship, their Dominican culture, and the funny Christmas cards they've made together over the years. Those cards became part of the inspiration for the session, so naturally, we had to bring some of that fun into their photos, too.

In celebration of their three-year anniversary, there were trust falls, ridiculous poses, plenty of laughing, and moments where they completely forgot about the camera.

We moved between the open grassy areas and the stone walls Stevens-Coolidge has to offer, using the softer greenery for some portraits and the stone scenery for something a little more textured and intimate.

And then there was the 95-degree heat.

We took things slowly, found shady pockets around the property, and gave ourselves plenty of time to cool down. Rather than rushing through a shot list, we could slow down, talk, laugh, and make the most of the pockets of beautiful light we found along the way.

Looking through their gallery, what I love most is that you don't just see two people who are in love.

You see how Adrian and Karen are in love.
