It’s always nice to revisit old haunts. Michael and Ivy’s Arnold Arboretum elopement gave me a chance to return to a place I grew up around and rework a familiar space into something more meaningful.

You can take the man out of the service industry, but you can’t take the service industry out of the man. Photographing Maggie and Michael at 1928 Beacon Hill for their engagement session reminded me of just that.

It's easy to think that the best photos come from the most beautiful locations. But I've found that it's rarely the location that makes the photograph. It's the energy you bring to it. With Janie and Oliver, bringing the energy was no issue.

Your photos should feel like you. As a photographer, it's my job to get you there. For Adrian and Karen, what shone through after three years together was their silliness.

A wedding reflects the values of a couple, and as a photographer, I want to see those values translated into the imagery. Months prior to Lauren and Jake’s wedding, I asked them what they wanted their photos to look like and, more importantly, what emotions they wanted to pull from them. They decided on one word: tender.

Photography asks a lot of you. There is the technical side, learning light and composition. Then there is the human side, knowing how to read a room, asking the right questions, and making people feel seen. I've always found myself adept at both. There are many sides to the coin that is me, and with Caitlin and Evan, I was reminded of that duality.

People always ask me where the best place for engagement photos in Boston is. My answer is almost never, "the most famous spot." It's wherever your story actually happened. For Lily and Ian, that meant all over their newfound city.

Not every engagement session starts with a park, a waterfront, or Boston's cobblestone streets. Sometimes it starts in an empty restaurant before dinner service, with a camera, a flash, and an idea. That’s exactly was Caroline and Taylor wanted.

Most proposals I photograph come to me as a rough draft — an idea with a few details that we shape together along the way. Gavin’s proposal for Rachelle was the complete opposite. It arrived fully formed, carefully thought through, and organized down to the smallest detail.
