The Old and the New: A Romantic Engagement Session at World’s End with Sadie and Zack

Every session is a chance for exploration. You get to learn about the couple, the space, and really, about yourself. With Sadie and Zack, their engagement session was also a chance to discover a new place that’s been on my radar for a while now.

I had been wanting to visit World’s End in Hingham for a couple of years now. Having no car in the city can lead to lots of undiscovered corners. Part of The Trustees’ conservation lands, it’s a place I’d always found particularly beautiful. So when Sadie reached out on TikTok looking for a Boston engagement photographer for a romantic, film-inspired engagement session, we both felt like World’s End was the right choice. It was somewhere we had both been wanting to explore.

Sadie wore a flowing silk dress and carried a parasol, with Zack looking dapper by her side. We wanted the evening to feel easy, warm, and full of love. We walked the tree-lined paths, playing with the shadows and streaks of evening light coming through the trees, letting the landscape guide us as we went.

We talked about law school, Paris, growing up in Massachusetts, and living in Fenway.

Then we found the flowers.

A huge field was in bloom, and with a dress like that, we had no choice but to frolic. It became one of those moments where the setting, the movement, and the two of them all came together naturally.

I wanted to capture them in the open. I feel like the best photos are the ones where you can’t tell I was ever there, capturing a moment that feels nearly private. Those small glimpses, outfitted in a vast field, make for the perfect window to peek through.

As the sun began to set, the light grew warmer and warmer, leading us toward the water. We leaned into all those beautiful orange tones, slowing down and taking in the last light of the evening.

By then, the session had become about more than finding pretty places to take photos. We were discovering the landscape, getting comfortable with each other, and documenting this particular moment in Sadie and Zack’s lives.

There’s a lot to discover when you give yourself the time to wander. For Sadie and Zack, it was a chance to explore somewhere new together. For me, it was finally getting to know a place I’d been curious about for a long time. A new place can look completely different by the end of an evening, and so can the people you’re sharing it with.
