Chemtrails over the Fort Myers Country Club: Flannagh and Josh

Some of the best parts of an engagement are the genuine sparks in your relationship and being able to celebrate them. John captured that perfectly.
— Flannagh

Driving from Miami to Fort Myers, I was excited for my shoot with Flannagh and Josh.

Engagement sessions have always meant more to me than just beautiful photos. They’re an invitation into something intimate — an early chapter of a love story that I’m always honored to witness. As a photographer, being trusted to document this season of anticipation and quiet excitement is never something I take lightly.

None of us knew the town well, which made wandering its streets together feel like discovery. What spoke to us was that nostalgic Americana all around, a cinematic stillness that set Chemtrails Over the Country Club attune in our heads. We walked without urgency, followed the light as it shifted, stopped for ice cream, and let conversation and laughter guide the rhythm of the session.

There was a clear sense of shared vision. We aligned easily on wanting the images to feel cinematic but grounded, simple but intentional. Something true to who they are rather than performative. That mutual understanding allowed the session to stay present and collaborative, where direction was minimal and trust did most of the work.

I’m always paying attention to real interaction first, then shaping the frame in a way that feels clean, timeless, and true to the couple. The goal isn’t perfection but recognition. Images that feel familiar years later because they were built from real moments.

With their October 2026 elopement ahead, the session felt like an important marker in the middle of everything: a chance to slow down, spend time together, and document this chapter before the next one begins.
